The President of the Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Moldova, Mrs. Angelica Caraman, was elected to hold the presidency of the Association of European Election Officers (ACEEEO) from 2022-2023. The decision was taken at the ACEEEO General Assembly, which took place today in Bucharest (Romania). All the institutional members of the Association, present at the event, voted for our candidacy.

Angelica Caraman claims that this decision reconfirms the trust and appreciation of ACEEEO members towards our institution, but also the active role it has played in the Association in recent years: "It is another recognition of the aspirations of the electoral management authority, but and our citizens to strengthen democracy in the Republic of Moldova, to continue working for the implementation of the highest standards in electoral matters. Taking over the presidency of the Association, for the second time, is an important impetus for the new composition of the Moldovan CEC to persevere and implement the best practices shared by our colleagues in the electoral authorities.”

Thus, the CEC will prepare the 31st annual conference of ACEEEO, which will take place in September 2022, in Chisinau, and as a topic for discussion, the topic of implementing alternative voting methods was proposed.

The Association of European Election Officers is a regional organization independent of electoral management bodies, with legal status, based on international law. The association has 25 institutional members (representatives of the electoral authorities from 25 European states and the CIS), 3 associate members, and one support member.

The Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Moldova has been a full member of ACEEEO since 1998, and since September 2013 it has been a member of the executive committee of this institution. He also held the presidency during 2014-2015.
