CEC, - Today, 25 January 2019, the electoral campaign for the Parliamentary Elections in the Republic of Moldova of 24 February 2019, has officially started.
The electoral campaign is a period of activity aimed to determine the voters to cast their vote for one or another electoral competitor.
According to the Electoral Code, citizens of the Republic of Moldova, political parties and other socio-political organizations, electoral bloc of parties, candidates and trusted persons of candidates are entitled to freely argue, from all perspectives, the electoral programs of the electoral competitors, the political, professional and personal qualities of the candidates and to campaign during assemblies, rallies, meetings with voters, through mass media, electoral billboards or other forms of communication.
To this extent, the Central Electoral Commission calls for electoral competitors and mass media to run an electoral campaign in strict conformity with the electoral legislation.
The electoral officials are encouraged to make use of their competencies in a legal, fair and professional manner and to take all required measures to ensure a free and fair electoral process.
The objective and unbiased monitoring of the elections by the national and international observers’ missions shall be a pillar in representing the transparency and the electoral processes.
The results of the elections, representing the voters’ will, depend on the correct conduct of each electoral subject involved in the organization and running of the elections.
The Central Electoral Commission calls for an electoral campaign of equal competition, objective information about the electoral processes, respect of dignity of participants in the campaign, within a trustful and mutual respect environment.
