Central Electoral Commission informs voters that they may request the right to vote at their place of stay during the second round of presidential election due on 15 November this year. Requests submitted before the first round shall not be valid for the second round.
The electoral law stipulates that any voter who, for reasons of health or other good reasons, cannot attend the polling station may request the precinct electoral bureau to deliver a mobile ballot box to their place of stay. Requests shall be submitted in writing by 6:00 p.m. the day before the election. On Election Day, requests shall be accepted in writing by 3:00 p.m., supported by a medical certificate.
Given the current public health crisis, voters with COVID-19 infection symptoms may vote at their place of stay until 3:00 p.m. without providing a medical certificate.
Citizens who cannot personally submit a request for voting at the place of stay can do so through a family member or a social assistant from the mayor’s office. People with visual disabilities may submit their request orally.
On Election Day, Chairperson of the precinct electoral bureau appoints at least two bureau members to go with the mobile ballot box and the necessary papers to such voters’ places of stay, allowing them to vote. Voting at the place of stay can only be requested within the range of the polling station where the voter has permanent or temporary residence.
The persons mentioned above vote according to the voters’ list for voting at the place of stay, compiled by the precinct electoral bureau, based on the submitted requests.
