Members of the Central Electoral Commission received a visit from the European official, Dragoș Tudorache

Members of the Central Electoral Commission met with Dragoș Tudorache, the Rapporteur of the Foreign Policy Committee on the implementation of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement in the European Parliament (EP) and coordinator of EP activities to support parliamentary democracy in the Republic of Moldova, during his visit to Chisinau.

Officials exchanged views on the institution's agenda, including initiatives launched by the new Commission composition, in part to improve the legal framework in line with relevant international standards.

In this way, an exchange of views was held on the revision of the Electoral Code and related legislation. The members of the CEC mentioned the actions already launched in order to achieve this goal, with reference to the creation of the working group that will analyze the legal framework, the recommendations of the election observation missions, and the decisions of the Constitutional Court. Subsequently, it will draft a law that will be proposed for public consultations.

Another topic discussed was the increase in the institutional and legal capacity of the Commission to establish more effective mechanisms to ensure transparency in the financing of election campaigns and the activity of political parties.
