The members of the Central Electoral Commission had an introductory meeting with representatives of the ODIHR mission for the observation of the early parliamentary elections of July 11, 2021.

At the event, the interlocutors discussed the role and importance of observers in the process of election monitoring as a mechanism to support political and civil rights. The subjects addressed at the dialogue reflect the current concerns of the electoral authority: registration of candidates for the position of MP, organization of polling stations, provision of the right to vote to all citizens regardless of their place of residence within the country or abroad, transparency of campaign funding, and operation of the information systems managed by the Commission.

The Chairperson of the CEC, PhD Dorin Cimil, presented the actions taken by the CEC to organize the elections.

Tamás Meszerics, head of the Observation Mission for the early parliamentary elections, presented the structure of the mission, the agenda and the way of organizing the election monitoring activities. The parties also established mechanisms for communication and collaboration between the CEC and the observation mission throughout the electoral period.

It should be noted that, according to the Electoral Code, the deadline for submitting applications for accreditation as observers is July 3.
