All heraldic elements present on the shield are of golden colour) and holding in its right claw a ball of silver, and in the left a black ball. In exergue, on the white field, between the two balls, one white, the other black, there is written the legend with black capital letters: * REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA * CENTRAL ELECTORAL COMMISSION

COAT OF ARMS

FLAG

The flag of the Central Electoral Commission is a rectangular canvas (2 x 3), of azure-blue colour, with a golden eagle in the middle holding a cross in its red beak, with red claws, with a half-opened flight, carrying on its chest the shield of the coat of arms of the Republic of Moldova (divided horizontally in red and blue parts, with a golden aurorch's head showing between its horns an eight-pointed star, a rose on its left and a slightly rotated crescent on its right, all of them of yellow colour, too) and holding in its right claw a white ball and in the left a black one.

Circle - the geometric shape that symbolizes perfection and the equal distance from a chosen centre, which shows in the CEC logo the fairness towards any political force in our country.

The blue field is the blue of the sky and represents the ultimate freedom, including the freedom of expression of the electoral will of the people.

The eagle carrying on its chest the shield the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Moldova points to the fact that CEC is a central level institution from the Republic of Moldova. The eagle from the State Coat of Arms has its graphic and colours modified in order to avoid it being mistaken with the eagle from the official logo used by the central bodies of power having this privilege: Presidency, Parliament and Government. CEC’s eagle has a half-opened flight, thus conveying the idea of protection, in this case protecting the legality of elections. From the eagle’s features there have only been maintained the cross from the beak, so that without it this heraldic bird cannot be properly identified. In its claws the CEC’s eagle has been given two balls. In its right claw, the eagle holds a silver ball and in the left one a black ball. The balls symbolize one of the oldest ways of voting from the world. – The white (silver) ball is the vote “pro” and the black one – the vote “against”.

The main idea of the logo is the following: the state’s eagle, as free as a bird (the blue field), having the fear of God (the cross from its beak), watches (the half-opened flight) the legality and freedom of expression of the electorate’s vote (the balls) in the Republic of Moldova (the eagle with the cross and the Coat of Arms on the shield).

The Coat of Arms and the flag of the Central Electoral Commission have been created based on the logo of the Central Electoral Commission, in line with the heraldic and vexillological norms and tenets and it maintains the whole significance of the logo’s symbols.
