At the meeting held today, June 2, the CEC amended the Regulation on the operation of the video recording system in polling stations. According to the amendments, the system has no internet connection and will be operational and active only on the election day, from the beginning of preparatory electoral operations for the opening of polling stations until the completion of the totalization of voting results by the members of the electoral bureau of the polling station.

This system represents an additional measure of security and transparency in the voting process, of the electoral operations on the election day, including against possible electoral fraud. At the same time, the system will not be used for the voting with the mobile ballot box and for the voting at the voter’s location.

The CEC reiterates that the installation of video cameras in polling stations must not compromise the secrecy of the vote. Their installation and operation will not affect the voting booths, the electoral lists, the privacy of voters and their personal data. The images will not be transmitted online, but will be stored on a special device, exclusively for eventual electoral disputes and will be used as evidence for their examination and resolution.

The CEC is an internationally certified institution in the field of information security according to SR ISO/IEC 27001:2013 standards.
