The report for the year 2021 on the financing of political parties and electoral campaigns was presented, today, in the plenary session of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova. It was presented by the Deputy Chair of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), Pavel Postica.
In accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Code, the CEC, as an independent oversight and control body regarding the financing of political parties and electoral campaigns, has the duty to collect and systematize reports on the financial management of political parties, reports on the audit of political parties and reports on financing of electoral campaigns presented by electoral competitors.
The presented information concerned the reports on the financial management of political parties for the first semester of 2021 and the annual one, the financial reports of the electoral competitors nominated by political parties and electoral blocs in the electoral campaign for the early parliamentary elections of July 11, 2021 and the new local elections of November 21, 2021. The report also included information on the Commission's current activity related to the oversight and control of the financing of political parties and electoral campaigns, in this case, the management of state budget allocations granted to political parties, but also the application of sanctions for those entities that admit to infringe the provisions of the legislation.
In this context, the Parliament took note of the Report for 2021 on the financing of political parties and electoral campaigns and, according to the decision approved by the deputies, the CEC will ensure the permanent oversight and control of the legal provisions of the financing of political parties and electoral campaigns. At the same time, the Commission will submit proposals to the Government and the Parliament in order to amend the regulatory framework regarding the financing of political parties and electoral campaigns.
